Two truths and a lie

Holidailies 2008 It’s the first day of Holidailies and, as usual, Shmuel talked me into signing up. December is about the only month that he and I update our respective blogs. It’s like our Christmas/Chanukah present to each other! Holidailies, for those who don’t know, is a blogger’s annual pledge to update daily through most of the holiday season. This year our updating season is December 5 – January 6.

I spend a lot of time participating in or leading group icebreakers at work. One of the classics is the “Two Truths and a Lie.” You’ve probably done it at work or school, and you probably hated the person who led the activity. (Here’s a secret. Sometimes we hate you, too.) Instead of the usual introduction, I’ll tell you three things. One of them is a complete lie … you guess which one in the comments, and I’ll reveal the answer tomorrow. The winner gets … um, a Christmas card! This is actually a very special prize since I’m not really doing many cards at all this year!

Story 1: I met the man who would become my husband three years ago, just after Christmas 2005. He lived in Finland, I lived in Houston, and although he’s the brother of one of my best friends, we’d never actually met. We were engaged in April 2006, he moved to the States in June 2006, we married in November 2006, bought our first house in October 2007, and had our first baby August 2008. We like lots of rapid-fire, life-altering change.

Story 2: Erin of ErinCooks.com and I are both Food Network junkies. We’ve known each other online for years, but have never met in person. I’m sort of a weird Alton Brown/Paula Deen hybrid to her Rachael Ray (only better). We both enjoy cooking and travel so much that we’re working on a pitch for “Eating with Erin”, a show that would profile our separate traveling and cooking adventures in a correspondence/letter/postcard format.

Story 3: Adelle and I were friends-of-a-friend when we first met in 2002. Since then, we both don’t really talk to that one friend, but Adelle and I have traveled the world together. On one of our adventures, we got the cruise ship’s “Personal Shopper” and his assistant to join us in giving “What Not to Wear” commentary to cruisers on formal night. Our favorite was the tight jeans with the sparkly top. That is quite obviously formal wear.

Go on and guess – Adelle and Erin, you can’t guess, but I’ll still send you a Christmas card. :-)

I’m guessing number two because of what I’ve learned about you over the last year (wow, it’s been a year since we all found out about our LO’s!) you would totally do number three!

I’m guessing #1 because I was pretty sure he was living in France, not Finland.
